The comprehensive, 65-page on-line “toolkit” covers: the applicable legislation (mainly relevant requirements of Health and Safety at Work Act regulations; and byelaws, where they exist). It also provides briefing on: principles of infection prevention and control, including use of PPE; sharps management; waste disposal; cleaning and disinfection; management following exposure to blood/body fluids; and how to ensure product quality of tattoo ink. Individually-downloadable components of the toolkit include: aftercare leaflets, audit protocols and model byelaws. Also a literature review on “The epidemiology of tattooing and its complications”, that was part of the evidence base underpinning the document.
